Barnett Dog Park

Summary:   Barnett is Central Florida¹s newest dog park. It is one of those dog parks that is not easy to find. I drove around for half an hour before I found it. To find it, turn off Colonial Drive where you see the giant 4801 Barnett Park sign at the west end of the Fairgrounds. Head north onto Ferrand Drive, then turn left onto Dolores Drive and go west until the short road ends. You'll see a small foot bridge just north of the parking. Cross the bridge and there you'll find Barnett Dog Park! The park is small, clean and well kept. It has some nice trees and a peaceful atmosphere. It has a cool design, in that the sections are divided by a public walkway through the center. A public bathroom is close, with a picnic and grill for humans to enjoy. It has both Small and Large dog areas, but lacks Amenities, and I doubt you'll see much added to the park due to budget cuts. It basically has a bench in each section with a cleanup station. It needs Water Fountains and would be nicer with a few Agility Obstacles. Signs directing people to the park from Colonial Drive would be a very helpful addition. Since it is small, it wouldn't take much to jazz Barnett up a bit more. It is a nice park to go hide away with your dog for a few hours.

Park Rules:

• Dog owners must be in fenced dog park at all times within view and voice command range of their dogs. Dogs should come when called by their owners.
• Dogs must be removed from the dog park at the first sign of aggression.
• Aggressive dogs are not permitted on the premises.
• Dog owners must have a leash in hand at all times.
• Keep small children and infants under strict supervision.
• Leash dogs while entering and exiting the dog park.
• Dog feces must be cleaned up by owners.
• Female dogs in heat are prohibited from entering the dog park.
• Please fill in any holes your dog digs.
• No food of any kind is allowed within the dog park.
• Do not run within the dog park. Leave running to the dogs.
• All dogs must have current licenses and tags.
• Sick dogs are not permitted in the park.
• All other general rules of Barnett Dog Park are also applicable within the dog park.
• All dog owners who fail to comply with the rules can be expelled from the park. Repeat offenders are subject to banning from the park.
