Summary: Barnett is Central Florida¹s newest dog park. It is one of those dog parks that is not easy to find. I drove around for half an hour before I found it. To find it, turn off Colonial Drive where you see the giant 4801 Barnett Park sign at the west end of the Fairgrounds. Head north onto Ferrand Drive, then turn left onto Dolores Drive and go west until the short road ends. You'll see a small foot bridge just north of the parking. Cross the bridge and there you'll find Barnett Dog Park! The park is small, clean and well kept. It has some nice trees and a peaceful atmosphere. It has a cool design, in that the sections are divided by a public walkway through the center. A public bathroom is close, with a picnic and grill for humans to enjoy. It has both Small and Large dog areas, but lacks Amenities, and I doubt you'll see much added to the park due to budget cuts. It basically has a bench in each section with a cleanup station. It needs Water Fountains and would be nicer with a few Agility Obstacles. Signs directing people to the park from Colonial Drive would be a very helpful addition. Since it is small, it wouldn't take much to jazz Barnett up a bit more. It is a nice park to go hide away with your dog for a few hours. |
