Summary:   Mount D.O.R.A. (Dog Off-leash Recreation Area) Dog Park is clearly a place locals like to visit! The day I stopped by I met many nice folks who frequent the park and talked to me about the park and their dogs. It was refreshingly easy to find whether you come in on 441,or from SR 46. Just take a look at our Map Link. This park has a unique design. It is the only park in Central Florida with four sections that are Double Gated. It has Small, Medium and Large Dog sections, with a fourth that is rotated to keep the grass in good condition for Large dog use. The day I visited, the Large dog area was dug up and had poop all over. I hope it has been spruced up since that time. The Small Dog section allows dogs up to 25 pounds, has 2 Benches, a Cleanup Station, a Water station, and was in the best condition. The Medium Dog section allows dogs from 25 to 50 pounds, has 2 Benches, a Cleanup station, a Garbage Can, the grass was in rough condition, and has limited shade. The Large Dog section allows dogs over 50 pounds, has 3 Benches, 2 Garbage Cans, 2 Cleanup Stations, 2 Water Stations, the best shade, and was in the poorest condition with many areas void of grass. Hopefully, the fourth section is now open and the rotation is working to help the grass grow back. The park is big and offers folks a peaceful place to relax. You can go there and be alone with your thoughts. It lacks enough shade and I hope more trees will be planted over time. I bumped into one of the park volunteers who told me they hope to put in Water Jets and Time Out Areas. Those items would be good additions. The best thing about Mount D.O.R.A. Dog Park, is that it is a very good park to meet people and make friends! Take a drive out and see for yourself.
